Why shampoo your lash extensions?

Updated: Feb 23, 2024

"I never get my lashes wet, I really look after them" - common client quote

If any client says this to me, it terrifies me!!

Don't get me wrong I don't want you blasting them in the shower or soaking them in the bath...

If you didn't have lash extensions, would you never wash your eye area or wash off your eye make up?

Well, I hope you would...

If you have lash extensions applied, you will get make up (even if you don't apply directly on the lashes), daily dirt, bacteria and natural lash sebum in this area. If you do not clean this out if will simply build up, until your lash line clogs up which will cause lash loss and irritation and in worse cases, cause Blepharitis.

What is Blepharitis?

It will look like yellowy crust stuck into the root of the lashes on the lash line. A lot of people don't notice that they have this because they haven't looked at the root of their lash extensions properly and it can be hard to see on yourself through thick lash extensions.

Blepharitis can cause irritation, itching, sore eyelids and lead to more if not treated. It can be treated by removing lash extensions and simply cleaning them thoroughly every day until it clears. Don't worry it isn't contagious!

So...prevent this nastiness by simply SHAMPOOING YOUR LASHES!

What to clean them with?

Lash extension shampoos are specifically formulated to use when you have individual lash extensions applied. This is the only product you should be using and you should start using it every day after your appointment.

Lash Queen cleansing kits are available to purchase at your appointment or on our online store for £15!

Important

You must clean your lashes just before coming to your infill appointments! This is to ensure there is no barrier on the natural lashes so the new extensions being applied can stick better and last longer! If you haven't done this and I have to clean them for you before infilling, this will eat into your infilling time!

How do I do it?

There is a video on our Instagram page which shows step by step how to use your lash shampoo, go to @lashqueenessex
